Flare CALMER® Proflr-calmer-pro
Our most advanced Calmer in the range. Worn in the ear to minimise stressful sounds and focus on the important ones.
A small in-ear device
Calmer is a small device worn in the ear to reduce stressful sounds. From traffic noise to busy family life, Calmer features a unique technology that reduces distortion in our ears and calms your environment in a subtle, but potentially life-changing way. Sounds that previously got you on edge are mellowed, resulting in a calmer, less stressful environment.
Soft Silicone + Solid Aluminium
Calmer Pro is the most advanced version in the range. Featuring a precision engineered aerospace aluminium reflector encased in a soft silicone outer. Calmer Pro reveals even more detail in sound, while delivering a higher reduction in stressful frequencies.
What Calmer Pro does
As you can see from this graph you can hear more with Calmer pro - so you are less withdrawn from the world - whilst enjoying an even better stress reducing experience.
How it works
Calmer PRO removes the resonant effect of the Concha by using a tiny waveguide inside our ears. The Concha is the small shell shape that connects to our ear canal which normally resonates mid frequency sounds.
By removing this resonance, mid frequency sounds have none of their normal painful aspects.
“We conducted a range of tests on Calmer and found it to significantly reduce sound levels at middle to high frequencies (2 kHz – 8 kHz). This successfully meets Flare’s design objective.”

I own these and the regular Calmer. Both are excellent for dulling the sharp noises of the world around you. I have ADHD and ASD - the effect is it does actually help me get less distracted and irritated by what's going on around me. I also find my ears are less fatigued at the end of the day, which I'm heavily conscious of working in audio. The pro version are a clear step up and they're very much like listening through an equal loudness curve if you're a nerd into that stuff; I used to mix with an equal loudness filter applied over my monitoring bus to let me work at very low volumes without accentuating the mids too much, I've found the Calmer Pro give me the same effect! Bit less annoying than switching the plugin on and off when checking louder too, and overall I can work much longer without fatigue with these in.
Compared to the regular Calmer the Pro does tend to slip out of your ear a little more and that can be a bit annoying but an advantage they have on the regular model is that if you're wearing over ear face masks they won't squash down like the the regular one does. Overall I've found them to be an invaluable tool.ProtectionRated 5.0 on a scale of 1 to 5QualityRated 5.0 on a scale of 1 to 5ComfortRated 3.0 on a scale of 1 to 5

these work really well. i got them because i have issues with sound when my anxiety and or bipolar gets really bad. the only issue i have, is because the earbuds have the aluminium insides, the earbuds arent as malleable in my ears, so can be a little bit uncomfortable in people with smaller ears. the normal calmer earbuds are more squishy and sit better personally.
on the other hand, the calmer pro, when paired with my headphones, which i use to also block out sounds with music, i cant hear any noises outside of the headset, which for me is a huge win.
imagine a big squeaky metal car trailer being pulled along by a big loud car, and not being able to hear the car or the squeaking! big win for me!
they also work well with the birds outside my house, and the neighbors having their gardens tended toProtectionRated 5.0 on a scale of 1 to 5QualityRated 5.0 on a scale of 1 to 5ComfortRated 4.0 on a scale of 1 to 5

I like these better than the original calmer. the aluminium body makes it easier to fit and stay in the ear. Performance was better but not so much better. Probably just start with Calmer and if you like it upgrade down the track.ProtectionRated 4.0 on a scale of 1 to 5QualityRated 5.0 on a scale of 1 to 5ComfortRated 5.0 on a scale of 1 to 5
- NNicoleI recommend this productAge Range 25 - 34Gender FemaleUsed For MusicianRated 4 out of 5 stars1 year agoSmooth sound frequency. Love it. Fit is eh.
I love how discrete these ear plugs can be. Hence why I got these as a person with autism, musician and music teacher. All sound frequencies smooth out. So, what I mean is that all high and low frequencies makes them just nice. I can tell the difference when I hear things it bounces in my ear canals, and when wearing these I can feel it smoothes the sound out for me. I don't have headaches from the amount of socialising or teaching I had to do all day. I can hear what everybody is saying, and it's not overwhelming at all. I only take them off when I'm not eating or drinking. Works when doing sedentary things like sitting and doing work or practicing.
Horrible fit for small ear canals. It is so hard to get them at the right angle so they can fit. One ear canals can fit, and the other slips out. It is uncomfortable when trying to get them into my ear canal and when it is in there. Wearing them long periods of time is uncomfortable, but I can feel the sensory difference. That's all I care.
Eating and drinking makes my ear buds fall out. It's quite inconvenient having to readjust and putting them back on.
I wish I can get an exchange to get calmer mini instead of this. Or perhaps they can make a calmer pro mini, because I want to get the best quality product to be able to function well with loads of sensory input. I'm only recommending this product as it actually does make a difference in terms of sound level differences.ProtectionRated 4.0 on a scale of 1 to 5QualityRated 5.0 on a scale of 1 to 5ComfortRated 2.0 on a scale of 1 to 5

The Calmer Pro appear to do what they are supposed to do, cutting down the irritating frequencies. However I find this version uncomfortable in my ear and I have to continually push them back in. There’s also a high pitched whistling from the aluminum when in wind. Not 100% sold on these, expected more for the cost.ProtectionRated 3.0 on a scale of 1 to 5QualityRated 3.0 on a scale of 1 to 5ComfortRated 2.0 on a scale of 1 to 5
